Pyrite is a shiny yellow mineral comprised of intersecting cubic crystals. The mineral Pyrite is also known as fool’s gold, exhibiting a metallic luster that gives a superficial resemblance to gold. Associated with other minerals such as sedimentary rock, metamorphic rock, and coal, Pyrite crystals can sometimes be found in extremely small quantities of actual gold. It has been used since the classical era in the manufacturing of iron, being the source of ignition in early firearms by providing the sparks needed to fire a gun.
